Memorial Day
May 25, 2009 | Seattle, Washington | Vetting explained
Veterans and Families of fallen soldiers gathered to honor the service men of the United States armed force at the Garden of Remembrance in Seattle, Washington. Members of the families placed flowers next the wall that names were engraved to remember those how fought and were killed in the Iraq-Afghanistan War. Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action. The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
