My husband and I love to travel, but we can kiss good bye the
days where we could once just jump into the car and drive to no
where. Now we're learning to enjoy a new kind of hobby: "A
Staycation".
Our annual Memorial Day Weekend tradition usually involves
camping and fishing. Well, due to the continual rise in gas, we
felt our only recourse was to nix the idea this year and stay home.
Needless to say we were very bummed about the idea. Even the
dog looked sad! So, being the creative (maybe even a bit annoying)
wive that I am, I decided to camp out in the backyard. We set the
tent up, just finished installing our above ground pool, and
cleaned up the grill, and got our "John Boat" up and runnin'. Wala!
We have ourselves a campsite! It's been a blast!
My husband groaned about the idea, but even he was all smiles
when we were done. We might just make this our new tradtion. It was
a lot easier than packing to go camping, we had a pool to ourselves
(wink, wink) and we didn't have to buy any additional supplies
except 5 gallons of gas for the boat. Mon, we'll head to Lake
Palestine and go fishing. I believe this was by far the cheapest
"vacation" we've ever had! I'm lovin' it!
