Northwest Airlines 757 Makes Emergency Landing

(Waterloo, Iowa) A Northwest Airlines 757 en route to Los Angles from Detroit, MI made an emergency landing at the Waterloo Airport Tuesday.
The plane with 118 passengers and 8 crew members landed without further incident after smoke could be smelled throughout the plane. No one was injured and passengers gave the flight crew high praise for their professionalism.
The passengers were greeted by Waterloo Mayor Timothy Hurley. Hurley ordered snacks, pizza, pop and bottled water for the passengers as they waited for a rescue plane from Minneapolis, MN. Some passengers went to a local casino while others relaxed in the airport terminal.
After waiting over six hours the passengers continued their flight to Los Angles.
