From the railroad to the ranches, the spirit of the west is alive and well in historic downtown Livingston Montana.  Our building facades reflect a past that we are all proud of.  Many of our buidings date back to the turn of the century, when Calamity Jane called Livigston home. Jimmy Buffet wrote the song "Livingston Saturday Night" which captures the energy of our town.  Nestled outside of Paradise Valley, Livingston is located on the shores of the mighty Yellowstone River, with world class fly-fishing, hunting, skiing and other outdoor adventures.  Originally a railroad town, and the original gateway to Yellowstone National Park, Livingston embraces its history, heritage and future with energy and enthusiasm.

The historic commerical district in Livingston Montana is on the National Trust list of historic places.  Vision Livingston Downtown Partnership is the designated Main Street program for Livingston Montana, population 7,000.  As a Main Street community, the historic integrity and character of our commerical district is a priority for Livingston and Park County.

Many businesses in the historic commerical district are certainly struggling through this difficult time in the nation's economy, however with the independent spirit of Montana, community members are embracing a shop local campaign, and working together to support local business with promotional events, cooperative advertising campaigns and lots of creativity.

The primary driver to the economic vitality of Livingston Montana are tourists.   We are cautiously optimistic that Livingston Montana will continue to be a tourist destination for fly fishers, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who wants a sense of what the old west, and Montana is really about.
