A Fierce Fury Blasts Quincy, IL - 6000 Without Power

Gusty winds up to 70 mph and a drenching rainstorm blasted Quincy, IL approximately 3:15 p.m. today then headed north to Hancock County and Iowa.

 

Over 6000 AmerenCIPS customers are currently without power as of 7:10 p.m. C.S.T. and Quincy Central Services crews are cleaning up fallen trees that are blocking streets.

 

The most damage caused today was to Quincy Plumbing and Heating building located at 116 N. 3rd St. The east wall from the second to fourth floor blew off landing on the owner's six week old Dodge pickup truck from reports.

 

No injuries have been reported fortunately.

 

Most of the fallen tree debris is on the south side of Quincy from Broadway to approximately 5th Adams St.

Several homes and vehicles were damaged by fallen trees and/or branches.

 

Just one year ago, Quincy, IL was fighting the flood. Mississippi River at Quincy is currently 13.83 feet at 7:00 p.m. under 17.0 feet flood stage.
