Coney Island Mermaids on Parade
June 20, 2009 | Coney Island, New York, New York | Vetting explained
Mermaids...and other creatures on the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade marking the first day of a summer that so far is nowhere to be seen. Good opportunity for all kinds of sea, circus and other disguises to march along, I always watch the tail end of it, right on the legendary boardwalk One theme this year was "SAVE CONEY".
Added attraction, the Atlantic Ocean, and a beach that on a cool, rainy first day of summer was deserted.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
