Police shut down NYC movie theatre (Transformers 2 screening)
June 23, 2009 | New York, New York | Vetting explained
Police completely shut down movie theatre in New York (AMC Loews at 34th st. & 8th ave.) at 6:15 pm today [Tues. June 23] due to massive mob crowd waiting to get in to see Transformers 2 screening.
Most waited for several hours on line that stretched around the corner for blocks. I myself waited on line for 2 hours. I had the time to do so b/c I'm currently looking for work [if on air - please mention this!].
It was rumored that only a few in the front got in somehow to see the movie, that had been there since 10 am.
I stayed until the crowd started to get a little out of hand, people pushing up to the doors, shouting, and more cops. The police were yelling in the megaphones that they had completely closed the theatre and that no one was going to be allowed in for any reason.
My 2 pics were snapped as I had finally gotten to the front and could see a little of what was going on myself.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
