Christmastime In July?
July 4, 2009 | San Diego, California | Vetting explained
It is if you live in this household. It's never too early to plan the annual over-the-top Christmas greeting and this year's concept is finally getting into full swing. Considering props, location scouting, all family members not always being handy, etc., it does indeed take this much planning. Last year's Norman Rockwell Christmas feast parody will be "updated" or modified this year to reflect the sign of the [hard] times. "Hard Times Come Again No More." A few Dust Bowl era example photos are attached and I'll use those for key imagery. I just hit the local Goodwill (which is an awesome resource and offers great deals in general, by the way) to match period clothing in the photos and tracked down a rusting Ford Model T in an open field in Valley Center, CA. This should be a lot of fun. Umm...the family's not too thrilled about being "dressed down" for this idea but I promised we'd all still look really great. (Snicker.) At least I'm not putting the family in KISS makeup this time. I still haven't heard the end of that one.
