White in a Black Neighborhood
July 23, 2009 | Tucson, Arizona | Vetting explained
Does anyone ever consider that being white in America is not so easy either? I lived in the deep south for 3 years and I was shocked at how I was treated by the black population. Discriminated against at every turn. This was done to a woman that was kind to everyone regardless of color or gender etc. I was saddened by this experience, but it also made me realize how discrimination makes one feel - I vowed never to do it to anyone, regardless of how they treated me.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
