Paris,  The Marais..4th arrondisement

To falafel or not to falafel?...that's not even a question in the Marais...

The question is where to falafel?

falafel...origianally an Egyptian food preparation of ground/uncooked chick peas mixed with spices, cumin and bicarbonate of soda...made into small round balls and fried..put into a pita bread to which usually uncooked vegetables are added and topped-off with any of a number of sauces and eaten on-the-run...or not.......

One of the first times I got lost in Paris I found myself in the Marais, one of the oldest and most visited areas in all of Paris.  (Everyone, even the Parisians frequently become lost in Paris and one  never goes out without a map). Anyway I found myself in an area where everyone who was walking in the streets was eating a sandwich wrapped in a round bread.  I had lived in Israel for many years so had become accustomed to lunch-time pedestrian traffic in which falafal sandwiches were everywhere...But this was Paris....

I soon found myself at the source of all the action on Rue des Rosiers and lined up at L'As du Falafel which was the most popular of the many restaurants...seeing that it was recommended by Lenny Kravitz simplified my decision as to where to have lunch....

Enjoy the visit to what is probably the most popular and delicious of all falafel palaces...L' As du Falafel.

#6...dont miss the fastest falafeller in the world..Tomer..

& that dollar in the glass is just a reminder..although tipping in France is a matter of choice, remember,... most service people earn minimum wage.

photo #10.. the Ace himself..Guy Settbon..

for 5€, about $6.50 you can enjoy a walk-a-way lunch and enjoy the sights...don't forget a fork and plenty of napkins.

bon appetite and easy on the piquante sauce...hot!...
