iReport —

An Historic Shipwreck, possibly from the War of 1812, has been found in the deepest and coldest part of Lake Erie by North East Research, an historic shipwreck salvage company. Technical divers have filmed and documented this fabulous intact, pristine schooner and have plans for raising the ship in one piece to be put on exhibit in a specially made acrylic tank for Buffalo's renovated Harborfront. This newly discovered piece of Americana will hopefully become a tourist destination as well as the centerpiece for a Grand Celebration of the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

Four documentaries are also planned beginning with the history and finding of this celebrated ship, the lifting of the schooner, and its final resting place at the Buffalo Harborfront in 2011.

Here is a short video clip taken of this ship at a depth of 170’ in Lake Erie where the water temperature was a balmy 35 degrees F.
