Hurricane Bill- Fri. 21 Aug (2)- Around Bermuda
August 21, 2009 | Bermuda | Vetting explained
Hey everyone!
These videos were taken from 12 local time until 3. I've been out doing errands with my mum and these are some of the videos we got of the ocean and the people in Gorhams.
I cannot stress enough the differance between the seafront and the weather inland. In town or driving on the North side of the island the water is no where near as rough; it simply looks like a grey winter day in Bermuda. The rain is not that hard either. However, when you are near the beaches you can feel the salt in the air, our car, camera lense and sunglasses got covered in the salt spray.
Most of the locals informed me that they were not afraid of the hurricane, more or less taking the precausions nessisary incase the storm turned for the worst.
Here is a piece of information I find intresting; Did you know, in Bermuda when the power goes out that also means you have no running water? Whereas in places like the UK running water is always availible even during a power outage. Because our island is so small our water source is dependant upon the rain, our roofs are made to collect the water and store them in a tank beneth the house. Unfortunatly, during hurricanes lots of leaves and debre contaminate the tanks, therefore it is important for us to fill up our bath tubs and buckets to make sure we have a source of water.
Thank you everyone, I will post more video's if there is something intresting (being that I still have internet) thank you for watching!!!
