I am having a hard time listening to the complaining about the Cash for Clunkers program in the US. I am an American living in Germany, and I'm now trying to sell my clunker because the 2500 Euro that the German government was offering did not help enough towards the purchase of a new or one year old car.

I had to buy a used car, but even if I had been able to afford the new or one year old car, I would not have gotten the money from the dealer. I would have been forced to apply for the government money myself, and I was told that I would  have to wait 4 to 6 months for it.

So I think Americans should really stop whining. The buyers got their money immediately taken from the purchase price, and the dealers will surely get their money far more quickly than anyone would ever get it here!
