Launch of Space Shuttle Discovery
August 29, 2009 | Vero Beach, Florida | Vetting explained
This video is the view of space shuttle Discovery's 08/29/2009 launch as seen from Vero Beach, Florida. My husband, daughter, and I brought a laptop outside so we could listen to commentary on spaceflightnow.com, and then videotaped the shutle once we were able to see it.
The first live launch my husband Mike ever saw was Discovery. The first live shuttle launch I ever saw was Discovery, the return to flight after the Challenger accident. Oddly enough, the first live flight my daughter Cori [age 5] ever saw was Discovery, the return to flight after the Columbia accident. So, although we hold NASA's space program dear, Discovery is extremely special to all three of us.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
