iReport —

Here's the reposting of my previous iReport. Hopefully, the audio has been fixed this time!

When I previously posted this, some viewers seemed to be convinced that I was insane, stupid, or young and naive. I hope you'll listen to what I'm saying so you can see that what I'm talking about isn't naive at all. It's just an interesting proposal that I hope you'll at least take the time to consider.

Today's incredible speech, their first joint campaign appearance, and her first solo stump for Obama will be the 3 main factors in determining whether she's on the ticket or not. I think that the picture of them together at the first joint event will cause even the most partisan Obama supporters to take a step back and ponder what might be.

TRANSCRIPT:

[Hello, I'm Conner Tipping, a college student from Urbandale, Iowa. I'd like to share my feelings on this subject because I feel very passionately about it, more so than anything else in this campaign to date.

I have to make a disclaimer: I have been a supporter of Senator Hillary Clinton since the Iowa caucuses, after my first candidate, Senator Joe Biden, didn't achieve viability in my precinct. However, I want to assure you that my support for Sen. Clinton is not blind, as I am now supporting Senator Obama as our nominee, and it is not the main motivation behind my belief that the Democratic Party needs to unite for the general election by bringing our two incredible candidates together onto a single ticket.

Why would Senator Obama pick Hillary, after all the negativity and divisiveness of the campaign? Why would he want to choose someone who has criticized him on foreign policy, once to the point of complimenting John McCain by saying he had passed the mythical "commander-in-chief test" while Senator Obama had just a speech to his name? Why would the country want the "baggage" of the Clintons, especially Bill, on the ticket, when this has become an election of change? The answer to this is simple…because it would be the biggest "change" in politics seen in our lifetimes.

If Barack Obama picks Hillary Clinton as his vice-presidential running mate, it would be one of the most incredible moments in American political history. He would be sending a sign to the American people that he is committed to uniting his party as the first step to uniting our country. He would bring both Democratic coalitions together at full strength, thus healing all divisions, and bringing about reconciliation between all in the party. But more importantly than just uniting the party, he would be showing true change in another way: by choosing to work side-by-side with his enemy, his political rival, to achieve change for the common good. He would truly appeal to our "better angels," and for a man who loves symbolism, who has talked about emulating Lincoln's example of a "team of rivals," there is no better way to do so.

Would Senator Clinton and former President Clinton be difficult to deal with? Yes, at times. However, they are Democrats, and they love our country, even if some Obama supporters might not believe that at this point. Why would Senator Clinton want the vice-presidency? Couldn't she do more in another position? Possibly. But if Senator Obama offers her the position, she will have to say yes; she's said she's "open to the possibility." And she could be an incredible crusader for her issues in this position, and break barriers for women across the world. But most importantly, maybe Senator Obama can appeal to her "better angels" and change Hillary herself. Maybe he can show her the value of his ideals, and they can gain mutual respect again; they can forgive and forget. Anything's possible, right? I mean, who would have thought that the Democratic Party would be nominating a freshman Senator with a funny sounding name this year? Certainly not me.

This is our chance to change the world. Let's not miss out on the opportunity.

Thank you for your time.]
