Mt. Wilson Observatory towercam time lapse (Station Fire)
September 7, 2009 | Los Angeles, California | Vetting explained
We compile the Mt. Wilson Observatory towercam footage (stills taken 2 minutes apart).
time lapse footage from Aug 27th to Sept 6th
frame rate = 30 frames per second, thus 24 seconds = 1 day. We are greatly indebted to the UCLA Physics and Astronomy department for providing this time lapse feed over the internet. I simply wrote a computer program to continuously downloaded these images and have produced this time lapse movie.
produced by Roger L. Griffith (JPL/NASA)
music by Jake Johnston - Gypsy Lullaby
thank you UCLA for giving permission to use this footage

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
