iReport —

Frankenmuth, Michigan-  There were cars, food and great music..and there were people as far as the eye could see walking down Main Street for the annual Frankenmuth Car Festival. 200,000 plus people crowded the streets and the many businesses along Main Street. Friday night 9/11/09,  opened the annual festival in its 26th year devoted to classic cars and tricked out rods with enough muscle to transport fans down memory lane. 20 bands set the mood with classic tunes, as food vendors fuel spectators with food and beverages.  City Officials estimated an even bigger number of people on Saturday and Sunday this year. Last year brought 130,000 people from all over the world. I spoke with people as far away as Germany and France. I did a guilty pleasure report with a film maker from Mexico City, Jorge Sanchez of JS Films. The people were friendly and festive, there were beer tents and Brat stands. BBQ ribs with Frankenmuth's secret sauce were delicious as I had to be careful not to get my camera sloppy from the sauce. Kids had the water park to cool off on this hot September day. The sun was shining and the beautiful paint jobs of all the classic cars glimmered in the sun. At 5PM they did the classic car parade down mainstreet, then the cars parked on a closed street so the people could walk and see the cars on the mile and half stretch of road.

As I walked down the street taking my video for this iReport, I was amazed at the mass of people. The smells of food venders filled the air and it took me back to my childhood with the memory of Summer festival's past. There were bands playing on the mile stretch of road with a variety of genres.

Frankenmuth, Michigan seems to be the hot spot this weekend, and people from all over the World attend this three day event.
