They are complete liars and doing the step and fetch it bidding of the private health insurance industry (which is in Forbes list of the 50 most profitable industries in the country).

It couldn't be any more obvious if they worked directly for private health insurance companies (which in many respects they do).

Case in point:

Senator Charles Grassley (who I generally have respected for his honesty and integrity in the past) quoted a health insurance economics firm who asserted that private health insurance companies would lose over 100 million subscribers if the current plan being discussed by the Senate Finance committee were put into law.

In the first place, that number is a ridiculous lie since there are probably not even 300 million subscribers in private health insurance plans in total.

In the second place, the economics firm Grassley was quoting is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Health Care, one of the largest Health Insurance firms in the country.

The Republicans in congress are being completely obstructionist on health care reform for the same reason they object to anything positive the Democrats are trying to do:

They want the President and the Democrats to fail so the Republicans can regain power.  Even if it means the entire destruction of the American economy and the American people.

The GOP, led by the biggest and loudest mass media hate mongers in the history of our country, have become the most evil threat to the prosperity and success of America that has ever existed in our history.

The GOP rank and file supporters of the anti everything they disagree with christian wrong ilk, will never waiver in their support, even if it means total devastation of the entire country including and especially their own pitiful lives.

Our only hope is that the rest of us continue to push on with what we know is right and push our elected representatives to do the right thing and battle these evil self righteous hypocrites and know come election time, we will continue to support the ones who stood tall for the American people in the face of this evil right wing tyranny  .
