U.S. ECONOMY
Recession? Not exactly President Bush acknowledges in interview that "we're in a tough patch," but "haven't reached the definition" of a recession. (MarketWatch.com, March 12, 2008) The following is the definition of the word "recession": recession  A period of general economic decline; specifically, a decline in GDP for two or more consecutive quarters.  (InvestorWords.com)
... National Bureau of Economic Research ...: A recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. A recession begins just after the economy reaches a peak of activity and ends as the economy reaches its trough. Between trough and peak, the economy is in an expansion. Expansion is the normal state of the economy; most recessions are brief and they have been rare in recent decades.1 (Recession, Wikipedia.com) Mormon Incorporated now own the ice rink at Rockefeller Center, as well as, of course, Top of the Rock and the crystal chandelier at Top of the Rock.  Mormon church officials at Temple Square and on Wall Street and K Street and at Exchange Place and elsewhere, and their cohorts, are skating on very thin ice and doing a remarkable job of pretending otherwise.  As I have stated several times in the past, the stock market can climb through the roof, it does not matter because nothing can change the fact that there will be a worldwide stock market crash.  Yes, I know nobody believes me, not yet, I know. Let's scrap the art criticism for today and talk religion instead. ...      G's "Foursquare" allows Twitchell to come out of the religious closet. A number of works predating his Corcoran material take Mormonism as a major theme. Looking at these early depictions of missionaries at work in the suburbs and divine gifts descending from the heavens make me suspect a transformation has occurred: Either Twitchell has tamed his religious passions or the art world has done it for him.      Perhaps this is not so much a transformation as a paring down. Twitchell continues to reference his religious background at the Corcoran. It's just that those references have been distilled into stylized images based on squares, a form with religious significance.      In the Bible, "foursquare" signals a divine measurement for altars and tabernacles. Its prescription for sides of equal length make an apt description of Twitchell's recent works. He cuts paper and tissue into symmetrical or concentric forms, a bit like kids making snowflakes in grade school.      In the few works of this type on view at G, patterns that initially seem abstract reveal familiar images of street signs, the Mona Lisa, the World Trade Center and suburban cul-de-sacs. The pictures are like codes we're meant to decipher, and it'll require some time to tease out the imagery. Each piece engages realism and abstraction almost simultaneously. And the religious references are few. ... Lane Twitchell: Foursquare at G Fine Art, 926 N St. NW (rear), Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 202-333-0300, to April 27. New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigns from office amid prostitution scandal
NEW YORK ? Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned in disgrace Wednesday after getting caught in a call-girl scandal that shattered his corruption-fighting, straight-arrow image, saying: "I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work."
Spitzer made the announcement without having finalized a plea deal with federal prosecutors, though a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said he is believed to still be negotiating one. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case. "Over the course of my public life, I've insisted, I think correctly, that people regardless of their position or power take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself," Spitzer said at a Manhattan news conference with his wife, Silda, at his side. He left without answering questions. Spitzer will be replaced on Monday by Lt. Gov. David Paterson, who becomes New York's first black governor. He also will be the state's first legally blind governor and its first disabled governor since Franklin D. Roosevelt. Paterson issued a statement in which he said he was saddened, but would move forward. "It is now time for Albany to get back to work as the people of this state expect from us," he said.

The scandal erupted Monday when allegations surfaced that the 48-year-old father of three daughters spent thousands of dollars on a call girl at a swanky Washington hotel on the night before Valentine's Day. ... </<p>FBI agents in Washington put Spitzer under surveillance at least twice ? on Jan. 26 and Feb. 13 ? to confirm that a prostitute joined him at the Mayflower Hotel, according to a senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the case. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation. ... Barely known outside of his Harlem political base, Paterson, 53, has been in New York government since his election to the state Senate in 1985. He led the Democratic caucus in the Senate before running with Spitzer as his No. 2. Though legally blind, Paterson has enough sight in his right eye to walk unaided, recognize people at conversational distance and even read if text is placed close to his face. While Spitzer is renowned for his abrasive style, Paterson has built a reputation as a conciliator. At a morning news conference, Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Spitzer's chief rival, said he was moving on with the business of the state. Lawmakers were set to vote on budget bills Wednesday afternoon. "We are going to partner with the lieutenant governor when he becomes governor," said Bruno. "David has always been very open with me, very forthright ... I look forward to a positive, productive relationship." Bruno, though the next highest-ranking official, does not become lieutenant governor upon Paterson's ascension to governor. The lieutenant governor's office would remain vacant until the next general election in 2010 under state law. However, whenever Paterson is out of state or if he were to become incapacitated, Bruno would be acting governor. (New York Gov. A disgraced Eliot Spitzer resigned as New York's governor Wednesday in a stunning political collapse that followed allegations he paid tens of thousands of dollars for call girls as a client of a high-end prostitution ring.      Spitzer, the former New York attorney general who built his career as a corruption fighter and moral crusader, said his resignation will be effective Monday, to allow time for the little-known Lt. John Edgar Hoover (January 1, 1895 ? May 2, 1972), known popularly as J. Edgar Hoover, was the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. He founded the present form of the agency, and remained director for 48 years until his death. During his life, Hoover was highly regarded by much of the U.S. public. Since his death, various allegations have tarnished this image. ...      Hoover amassed significant power by collecting files containing large amounts of compromising and potentially embarrassing information on many powerful people, especially politicians. According to Laurence Silberman, appointed deputy Attorney General in early 1974, Director Clarence M. Kelley thought such files either did not exist or had been destroyed. After +The Washington Post+ broke a story in January 1975, Kelley searched and found them in his outer office. The House Judiciary Committee then demanded that Silberman testify about them. An extensive investigation of Hoover's files by David Garrow showed that Hoover and next-in-command William Sullivan, as well as the FBI itself as an agency, were responsible. (Wikipedia.com) It is no secret, the fact that the FBI has a file on every prominent person in the United States of America, and in each file are explicit details about the prominent person's sex life.  It might be somewhat of a secret though, the fact federal agents are assigned to go to great lengths to set up and entrap persons - for whatever reason, perhaps simply to have him step down so a pre-determined proxy can step up.  I know about setups and entrapments.  I myself have never been setup and entrapped but I witnessed personally how federal agents of our government setup and entrapped someone close to me.  He's not prominent, though, so why federal agents were assigned to go to such great lengths in setting him up and entrapping him, shall be exposed during the LEGAL CASE.  Now as for what do I have to say?  I have to say something about coincidental alignments among people, places, dates and events. Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your own nervous system. At any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom. He thought of a man whom he had passed in the street a few weeks back; a quite ordinary-looking man, a Party member, aged thirty-five to forty, tallish and thin, carrying a brief-case. They were a few metres apart when the left side of the man's face was suddenly contorted by a sort of spasm. It happened again just as they were passing one another: it was only a twitch, a quiver, rapid as the clicking of a camera shutter, but obviously habitual. He remembered thinking at the time: That poor devil is done for. And what was frightening was that the action was quite possibly unconscious. The most deadly danger of all was talking in your sleep. There was no way of guarding against that, so far as he could see. He drew his breath and went on writing:

I went with her through the doorway and across a backyard into a basement kitchen. There was a bed against the wall, and a lamp on the table, turned down very low. She -- His teeth were set on edge. He would have liked to spit. Simultaneously with the woman in the basement kitchen he thought of Katharine, his wife. Winston was married -- had been married, at any rate: probably he still was married, so far as he knew his wife was not dead. He seemed to breathe again the warm stuffy odour of the basement kitchen, an odour compounded of bugs and dirty clothes and villainous cheap scent, but nevertheless alluring, because no woman of the Party ever used scent, or could be imagined as doing so. Only the proles used scent. In his mind the smell of it was inextricably mixed up with fornication. When he had gone with that woman it had been his first lapse in two years or thereabouts. Consorting with prostitutes was forbidden, of course, but it was one of those rules that you could occasionally nerve yourself to break. It was dangerous, but it was not a life-and-death matter. To be caught with a prostitute might mean five years in a forced-labour camp: not more, if you had committed no other offence. And it was easy enough, provided that you could avoid being caught in the act. The poorer quarters swarmed with women who were ready to sell themselves. Some could even be purchased for a bottle of gin, which the proles were not supposed to drink. Tacitly the Party was even inclined to encourage prostitution, as an outlet for instincts which could not be altogether suppressed. Mere debauchery did not matter very much, so long as it was furtive and joyless and only involved the women of a submerged and despised class. The unforgivable crime was promiscuity between Party members. But -- though this was one of the crimes that the accused in the great purges invariably confessed to -- it was difficult to imagine any such thing actually happening. The aim of the Party was not merely to prevent men and women from forming loyalties which it might not be able to control. ...

Doublethink is the act of simultaneously and fervently holding two mutually contradictory beliefs. It is an integral concept of George Orwell's dystopian novel +Nineteen Eighty-Four+....      Orwell explains that the Party could not protect its iron power without degrading its people with constant propaganda. Yet, knowledge of this brutal deception, even within the Inner Party itself, could lead to disgusted collapse of the State from within. For this reason, the government uses a complex system of reality control. Though Nineteen Eighty-Four is most famous for the Party's pervasive surveillance of everyday life, reality control means that the population of Oceania ? all of it, including the ruling ?lite ? could be controlled and manipulated merely through the alteration of everyday thought and language. Newspeak is the method for controlling thought through language; doublethink is the method of directly controlling thought.      Newspeak incorporated doublethink, as it contains many words that create assumed associations, between contradictory meanings, especially true of fundamentally important words, such as good and evil; right and wrong; truth and falsehood; justice and injustice.      Doublethink is a form of trained, willful intellectual blindness to contradictions in a belief system. • the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one,
  • 39
  • and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is a conclusion of a system of things, and the reapers are angels.
  • 40
  • Therefore, just as the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the conclusion of the system of things.
  • 41
  • The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out from his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and persons who are doing lawlessness,
  • 42
  • and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where their weeping and the gnashing of their teeth will be.
  • 43
  • At that time the righteous ones will shine as brightly as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him that has ears listen.
    (Matthew 13:39-43)

I have had the privilege of receiving the very best education in the world.  Jehovah's Witnesses have taught me things of utmost importance.  I have been taught, for example, that the Holy Bible contains a lot of symbolism.  I have been shown proof, in God's Word the Holy Bible, that, for example, there is no literal burning hell nor is there a literal fiery furnace.  God, the true God, Jehovah God, is not a sadist.

I am in pain.  My head hurts.  It's a prickly stinging sort of pain and I know it will probably get worse though I'm not sure if CIA Mormon Jay Bybee will have to actually have an underling write another torture memo to authorize the Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) to administer higher levels of Nasdaq Taser Easy Button torture pain to me, and to other civilian "troublemakers", I only know that, no matter how much Easy Button pain is administered to me, I will continue to write, and distribute, and expose, right on up to and on into, the LEGAL CASE, which will be the finale of the CIA's illegal sting operation surrounding Jehovah's Witnesses and me and the CIA agents who're in charge of the CIA's illegal sting operation surrounding Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide and me and themselves which encompasses every human being on earth.

HELLO, MY NAME IS VAN SINCLAIR. THIS IS A STORY OF PERSONAL REVELATIONS.

In the late 1980's, an Arent Fox partner was close friends with - and lived next door to - the general counsel of Black Entertainment Television, the hugely successful broadcast corporation aimed at African Americans founded by Robert L. Johnson.  When a conflict of interest led the BET counsel to seek a recommendation from BET's regular outside counsel for another lawyer to handle a matter, Van Sinclair's name was put forward.  'I was the beneficiary of a happy coincidence,' says Van.  And he took full advantage.  His relationship with Bob Johnson and BET grew to include a broad spectrum of legal work.  'We helped take them private in 1998, sold them to Viacom in 2001, and along the way negotiated deals with restaurants, record labels, magazines, and a variety of other fascinating businesses.'  The post-BET era was even more rewarding, 'We competed for, and won, the Charlotte Bobcats N.B.A. franchise and built a state-of-the-art arena.  In 2003, I became president of Bob's RLJ Companies, the holding company for 20-30 diversified enterprises, encompassing sports and entertainment, financial services and hotels and hospitality.'  Bob's impressive success, Van says, springs from a down-to-earth business outlook all too rare among executives of his rank.
