Balloon Photo Comment
October 15, 2009 | Vetting explained
I am a former photo journalist: Regarding the "dot" or "speck" beneath the balloon in the photo on your network, please ask the submitter to send you the photo just PRIOR and just AFTER the one you are showing. If there IS a speck in the exact same position in the frame on either photo, then you can confirm that it is contamination on the front or back of the lens or even on the photo chip in the camera and NOT something falling from the craft.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
