brussels belgium
October 17, 2009 | brussels, Belgium | Vetting explained
these are a few more pics are of a short 3 day weekend in brussels, belgium in june of 2009..
my bf and i decided to drive thru luxemburg from germany to celebrate his birthday in this wonderful city..its a mixture of very old and newly built architecture.
its also the city famous for its chocolate, waffles, cherry beer ( called Kriek) and of course the 'mannequin pisse'. a small statue of a boy in the middle of the city that seems to attract tourists by the 1000's everyday.
we found the food excellent ( big pot of mussels in tomatoe sauce is a must try)
and the people were super friendly with almost all speaking english.
1. close to the old market square was what i thought, an intresting opportunity for a pic. a fountain on the side of the street made it look like the street was flooded
2. another example of the beautiful architecture in brussels
3.this is called the St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral .
4.we found it very hard to get lost walking in this city as there were street info signs to all the attractions on every few corners
5.one of the more recent modern buildings in the city, i thought it had a futuristic design to it
6.another of the many cathedrals in the city
7.this is the 335 foot high Atomium at the site of the 1958 expo. u are able to take an elevator that travels up 16 feet per second (very fast) to the top where there is wonderful, unobstructed view of brussels.
8.grand place in the old market square
9.fresh waffels cooling down on a rack
10. another pic of the old market square. was many outdoor eateries to choose from to sit an relax with an ice cold cherry beer
