Burning Life, Second Life's answer to Burning Man, will continue through Sunday October 25. It takes place on the Playa, 34 Second Life regions of desert land on which a riot of imaginative builds have sprung up, but they won't last. You owe it to yourself to visit and see what the Burning Life community has built.

There are so many builds over such a large area that few people will ever see the entire spectacle. To help you narrow down where to visit, the following is a list of some of the more imaginative builds. You'll find pictures of all of them below. Second Life members can teleport to each build using the link provided; if you're not a Second Life member, if your computer meets Second Life's minimum system requirements, you can join for free at join.secondlife.com.

Picture #1: Bryn Oh's Vessel's Dream, based on poem Lilac, is an imaginative work that is also a challenge to follow.  It consists of a half dozen rooms, but it's up to you to find them, and the finding is not always either easy or obvious.  In one case, you can only get to the next room by moving your Second Life through a series of spaces until you finally find the room; the final and most spectacular room will only be found by searching for the teleport link, but this is not easy to find.  It's worth the try, however.  This is a complex and highly detailed build that is highly worth visiting.  Second Life members can teleport to it at slurl.com/secondlife/Burning%20Life-Bordello/15/124/25.

Picture #2: AuraKyo Insoo's The Burning Woman is dedicated to "all Children and Women who were battered and murdered."  If you were at the recent Imagine Festival, you've already seen her work.  She created the set where the festival was held.  The Burning Woman is very different, much darker in spirit, fitting for a build devoted to the pain so many have suffered, but also offers hope.  You can visit it at slurl.com/secondlife/Burning%20Life-Zero%20Mile/158/196/26.

Picture #3: SkydiverAnarta Fall and SkydiverColorado Calloway worked together to create The Evolution Maze a multilevel maze that many will find challenging.  Be certain to have your audio turned on when you visit.  It could help you find your way through the maze.  You can visit at slurl.com/secondlife/Burning%20Life-Nightingale/133/9/24.

Picture #4: Miso Susanowa's The Roof Is Gone is a build where you'll need to play streaming video with your speakers on and use the HUD you can get on the ground floor.  You may have to visit several times to grasp fully grasp both the human tragedy and the optimism of the build, which combines a wide diversity of elements that include the artist Salvador Dali, Hurricane Katrina,  RNA, DNA, music, the LA Riots,  the Northridge earthquake, the Apocalypse, tesseracts, the Crucifixion, and the Winchester Mystery House!  You can visit it at slurl.com/secondlife/Burning%20Life-Black%20Rock/56/19/25.
