CNN producer note

Another fascinating look inside the virtual world of Second Life from Any1 Gynoid.

iReport —

Day 350 is observed at 5200 worldwide events in 181 countries with a major event in Second Life. 350's organizers say "Right now, mostly because we’ve burned so much fossil fuel, the atmospheric concentration of co2 is 390 ppm—that’s way too high, and it’s why ice is melting, drought is spreading, forests are dying."

The Citizens of Second Life (SL) are very concerned and spreading the word on a global scale. SL 350 Organizer Coughdrop Littlething highly recommends reading up on this site, regarding climate change info and future events: http://www.oneclimate.net/

350 SL organizer Paolo Rousselot explains that 350's purpose is "to raise awareness of global warming"... This exhibition is about the RL and SL companies involved in the demand to reduce the CO2 emissions below the amount of 350 particle in ever micrometer air. We are part of this group and happy to work for this cause." Find out more about 350 at: http://www.350.org/

In picture 4, CJ27 Jigsaw, SL's representative from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) shared these comments, "I've seen the effects of non-sustainable practices all over the world, whether in person or via the media and could never understand why each and every individual doesn't take responsibility for our home, whether it be their own back yard, community or through the business practices of the places they work. I've seen interest in conservation, now 'sustainability' rise and fall over the years - and shudder each time something else takes attention. It's not just for us, living on this planet now, but for our children, and the following generations - something often said but obviously still not committed to globally. Sustainability includes climate change so all living things, plants, animals, humans, can survive."

Picture 1 is me and Joni Villota at 350 event. Picture 2 is 350 organizer Artemesia Mathy. Picture 3 is musician Steely Decosta who played on the 350 stage. Steely played an incredibly awesome set, a great example of how SL musicians excel over most all RL musicians,

Coughdrop Littlething gave an opening speech at the SL 350 rally, Here is the full transcript:

Welcome friends and strangers.... welcome!

Can you all hear me? If you have any trouble with your settings, just ask a stranger! Voice is switched off for the gig to keep lag down.

Thank you for your support & a special thanks go to all those who have worked with me on the build and helped to make such a fine exhibition, especially Paolo, who has worked so hard.

Tonight we join together with a message traveling the whole world over (but perhaps only here in the entirety of the metaverse). The message goes out to all those involved in the decision making processes needed to tackle climate change ....

...  we want you, we NEED you, to recognise the importance of this number .....350.....

350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide—measured in "Parts Per Million" in our atmosphere. 350 PPM—it's the number humanity needs to get back to as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change.   More information about 350 can be found around the room or here from Bill McKibben & his team - http://www.350.org/understanding-350#2.

There will be plenty of time for you all to take photos of yourself or this event with the 350 logo displayed prominently. At the end of the music I hope you will all stay for a mass photo-shoot from '350 in the metaverse'. Send these to me & I will get these to 350.org on behalf of all of us here saying 'do it!'

That's enough about 350, now we must talk of Steely! OneWorld UK  & OneClimate Island are pleased to introduce a wonderful singer, not only is Steely a versatile and accomplished guitarist, but his voice will captivate you.  Welcome, Steely & over to you......
