Most of the Dutch troops in Afghanistan are stationed in Uruzgan. Unrest in the region is now becoming an increasing problem for the coalition forces in this area. Taliban and their allied militants have stepped up attacks and launched a major offensive this week. 17 militants were killed today in Uruzgan. No ISAF members lost their lives during the attack. It was by far the largest assault this year, according to the coalition. The footage I filmed is NOT from today, but gives a rare and unique impression of the region and the Dutch army. President Hamid Karzai made a two-day state visit this week to the Netherlands aimed at improving trade links between the two countries and to acknowledge the courage and bravery of the Dutch army in Afghanistan. Also this week some $20 billion in aid pledges were made for the country in Paris.
