NYC Marathon 2009 Take 1
November 1, 2009 | New York, New York | Vetting explained
Well over 35,000 brave ones took part in the just over 26 mile race that takes you from the Staten Island side of the Verrazano Bridge to Manhattan's Central Park by way of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, all of the city's five boroughs.
The New York Marathon was held November 1st, 2009- with the first American male runner to win the race since 1982 taking the title. But there were other winners- all the ones that raced, finished or not.
Like Joel and Nussid from France, a runner from Barcelona pedicabing it back to the hotel driven by Jason, Antonio from Spain, a Swiss couple and a French couple who did the race together, a sister, Dorothy, who cheered her brother George. All winners today.
After the race, some locals and visitors decided to take the subway home.
Good race! Lots of winners.
