Paranormal Activity Is Para-STUPID!
November 2, 2009 | Vetting explained
Before going any further read me loud and clear: DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE!
Paranormal Activity is a waste of time and money. It is another Blair Witch Project in a major major train wreck.
I never review movies, for I don’t feel I can be objective enough when the movie isn’t to my liking (but that’s what reviewing is all about _ do you like it).
When I saw the movie preview, I thought this could be good (my first attempt at being objective). To my surprise, the movie was number one at the box office for two or three weeks. I then thought "it must be good", but I heard no one talking about it other than the infomercials. Still trying to be objective I told myself give it a try. Go see it. I asked around and a few people said it was good, and the infomercials of movie goers saying they were scared were believable.
So I took a huge leap and went to see it. BAD DECISION!
Rule of thumb: if the movie doesn’t grab you in the first ten minutes there is something wrong. Second rule of thumb: if you are suddenly feeling sleepy fifteen minutes into the movie HUGE problem. Third rule of thumb: if you can’t nap during the movie because you keep hearing one of the characters screech the name “Micah” major problem. Lastly, if you start wishing, hoping or praying that someone sitting in the audience would start talking to the screen you have chosen the wrong movie.
I’m sure someone reading this will think just the opposite and found the movie scary or psychologically thrilling. I didn’t, and trust me I don’t need to see blood, monsters or gory scenes, but I don’t expect to be entertained. Watching two unattractive people in a badly furnished house stumble around saying there is something wrong when they hear loud noises at night (maybe it was the garbage trucks outside) is not entertainment. I know the movie had a small budget but still? Give me something to work with. In my opinion the guy Micah should have dumped the girlfriend, Katie. After all, she seemed to attract the weird noises and other strange occurrences.
I know this review is a bit late, but better late than never.
Folks stay away. If someone is saying the movie is good, they are duping you because they were duped or they are afraid of their own shadow.
