Historic Fort Wayne - Detroit MI - Part I
November 4, 2009 | Dearborn, Michigan | Vetting explained
On Sunday November 1st, we visited Fort Wayne in Detroit for the first time.
The fort was built in 1845 on the banks of the Detroit River. The fort is in distress and is going under some renovations to bring the fort back to life for historical purposes.
The pictures you see are of the barracks, officer homes, and tunnels at this old location. If you are ever near Detroit, or just passing through, a simple $5.00 parking fee will allow you access to this wonderful piece of American history. All proceeds go to the renovation of this property.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
