I am a student at the University of Houston Clear Lake, studying to be an elementary teacher.  I have always loved children and known I wanted to work with them.  I am 24 years old; since I was 14 I have battled endometriosis.  Since that time, I have tried every medication, hormone therapy and other possible treatment short of a hysterectomy.  Since I was 16, I have had 5 surguries to treat the disease.  The 5th surgery took place March 13, 2009 (over Spring Break last semester).  March 31, 2009 at my post-op appointment I was told that my worst fear had come true: I would not be able to get pregnant.  I had aggressively treated the endometriosis for close to 8 years to avoid this because I always wanted to be a Mom.  I have been with my partner Ross since I was 19 and he has taken amazing care of me the entire time.  We decided to try for a child, and April 1, 2009 I went off of the birth control pills I was taking.  Maay 1, 2009 I found out that I was pregnant with my son Aidan.  Ross and I could have not been more happy or thankful that God had blessed us with our miracle child.  Aidan was not due unil New Years Eve (December 31, 2009).  Unfortunately, I had a seziure and developed pre-eclampsia.  I was hospitalized October 29, 2009 and after being informed that my liver would rupture if I didn't have my son early, Aidan was delivered by emergency c-section 2 months early on Halloween (October 31, 2009).  He is currently in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Woman's Hospital of Texas in Houston, where I am also a patient.  I should be released tomorrow, but Aidan will have to stay a while.  He is receiving treatment for a number of conditions which is normal for a premature baby.  He is strong and is doing well and we are thankful to God that we both survived.  His conception was a miracle, as is our survival.  I have submitted some pictures taken throughout this experience to share with Nancy Grace, who I just love and appreciate- and I know that my son will recover just like her beautiful children have.  Nancy, John David, and Lucy are an inspiration to Aidan and me and we are so thankful for the chance to share our happy ending.
