Contributions from corporations just make Congress appear to be bought. I know this is not the case. Congress always acts in our best interest.

Banking reform, Health Care Reform,  Credit Card Reform and all the other Bills that Congress passes each year are written to make sure people are protected from unsafe or predatory practices of American Corporations.

When jobs were exported overseas, Congress was just acting in our best interest. They were protecting us from measures other countries would have taken against us for protectionist measures here. OK?

Congress allowed deregulation of our banks and large bonuses to bankers and brokers to allow banks to keep talented people and protect us from having too much money and getting fat and lazy.

When they pass laws to protect corporations rights , it's just to protect us again so these companies can flourish and provide good $8-$12 an hour jobs. Without which unemployment would be much higher and TVs made in the China would be unaffordable for many more of us.

Congress is always on guard for Americans. Our representatives have our interest in mind when ever they pass laws.

I'm just concerned that they don't have enough time to read the legislation they have corporations write for them while they spend so much time raising campaign funds.

I'm also concerned about our Congress's image. They appear to be bought with these large contributions and that's just not fair to them.

I think, if we were to ask them to publicly fund their campaigns with tax dollars only, we would be the beneficiaries of this measure.

Congress would have more time to do their job rather than trying to keep their job all the time. And maybe this public funding would give all of us more confidence in them as representing our interest only rather than just corporations.

Yes, it would cost us a little more, but think how much faster Bills would get passed once they had time to read them and realized that they weren't upseting anyone who'd given them money. They'd only have one contributor and that would be American Citizens. They would need to please only us.

Dick Durbin has introduced a Bill that would just this. If you think this is a good start and are concerned about Congress's image, call your representative.
