Meeting Tim Russert
June 14, 2008 | Washington, District of Columbia | Vetting explained
I met Tim Russert on Sunday, March 16 on the set of Meet The Press, along with a group of 100 journalism scholars part of the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Conference in Washington, DC. We viewed a live taping of Meet the Press, after which Mr. Russert gave us a press conference. What I most remember aside from his advice was his manner and infectious personality. He treated us like new friends, eagerly listening to our stories and answering our questions, no matter how small. He made everyone feel comfortable, making the press conference very informal, and more like a conversation between friends than anything else. I walked away knowing I had truly been in the presence of greatness.

The best iReports get vetted and used on CNN platforms.
The label “Not vetted by CNN” lets you know that this story hasn’t been both checked and cleared by a CNN editor.
iReport stories that have a red "CNN iReport" stamp in the corner have been vetted and
cleared. That means they've been selected and approved by a CNN producer to use on CNN,
on air, or on any of CNN's platforms.
