Corporations are People Too
November 7, 2009 | Miami, Florida | Vetting explained
Let me ask you: when you go out and vote for a favorite to represent you at a local, state or federal level in government, how many of you believe you're voting for a person?
If you add up all the people that are voted into office on all 3 of these levels of government you still don't reach the number of people that work for lobbyist groups that control them, not even close to the estimated 80,000 - 100,000 that actually control our country.
Do you know how many people in Congress wrote the current Health Care bill on the hill? None did, not a single one. All proposals, including the current one now being considered were drafted and completed by lobbyist firms. What's wrong with this picture?
Did you know that lobbyist that represent special interest, big business, financial institution (especially), foreign governments and even foreign persons have more power in their lobbyist influence on our government than all voters combined in this nation? They do.
Did you know that less than 2% of all legislation passed in the last 22 years in Washington D.C. was completely written, drafted and presented by an actual member of Congress? You know.., Congress, those people we all vote for to go contemplate, negotiate, draft and pass legislation that is good for all the people of the United States, Nope, sorry, they don't do that. They take their legislative orders -- over 98% of the time -- from lobbyist groups.
Lobbyist groups drafted legislation that says to Congress and the American people that BIG corporation, special interest, foreign people and governments have as much of a vote, or as they call it, right to be represented, as does each individual person that can vote.
Even though specific people in this country, meaning the CEO's of these corporation, owners of financial institutions and so on also have the right to cast their vote and therefore be represented, this isn't enough for them. They want Corporations to be considered people too, and so they are.
In fact, their power is so much more dominate than the entirety of all voters; they control all the VETO power in government as well as legislative power.
We the people have returned to our previous positions and now argue over things that aren't even important to us. Health Care reform? It's not about health care reform, it's about insurance companies, it's about medical special interest, it's about keeping the cost out of control, for.., lobbyist and what they want. We don't see this because we are all splashing around in the pig swill miles and miles away from the real issue too busy being parrots and repeating all that we see on T.V.
And so, what is that real issue?
That's easy, it's the fact that Corporations are People Too.
Now ask yourself, what's THE most important issue facing Americans? If we really don't actually know, then all that is left to do is give up any hope whatsoever.
