Well, it's about time...

"The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane."- Mark Twain
I got the news that the House of Representatives passed the health care reform bill a few hours ago. I can't say that it's all clear sailing from here, as we still got the Republicans in the Senate to deal with, and we can be sure they'll filibuster any reform bill until the end of time if they get the chance. Regardless, kudos to the Democrats for finally getting through the slosh of lobbyists and making some tangible progress.
I can only hope that this bill makes it much more difficult for health insurance companies to continue offering nothing but overpriced plans with minimal coverage to college students. Like many other students, I know that it's going to be impossible for me to continue living off of my family insurance in a year or two, and I'm not ready to spend a fortune lining a CEO's pockets just to get the privilege of seeing a dentist or occasionally getting a flu shot. This cheaper, non-discriminatory insurance will be a lifesaver for this new generation of students who can hardly afford tuition as it is.
Once we get this bill passed, President Obama need to present to the public a clear, tangible plan in plain English as to how he is going to turn this bill into a tangible health care provider. Legislation is not reform, reform is reform, and President Obama does not seem to have much of the tangible details sorted out yet. Who will be in charge of running this health care? How will poor and/or homeless Americans be provided with insurance? Where are doctors supposed to go to get paid? I know that a lot of Americans feel that the 2008 bailout was poorly planned and let to a lot of monetary waste at the expense of taxpayers, and I can only hope the same does not happen here. Please bring us specifics!
Regardless, congrats again to the Democrats (and lone Republican) in Congress for finally making some progress on this bill. Please, keep up the good work! Millions of Americans are counting on you!
