CNN producer note

sjunat55 got to the U.S.S. New York early to get in. 'They were only letting in a couple of hundred at a time. You could fit in like a movie studio there. It's amazing, so huge, and the line went all the way 10 blocks to 38th or 39th street.'

iReport —

The USS New York is in its first visit to the city whose name it bears.

The line of people waiting to visit went for almost 10 blocks, from Pier 88 on 48th Street down the bike path of the Hudson River Park to 39th Street.

Once inside, service men and women off all ranks showed the daily routines of their duties, gave equipment and weapons demonstrations  and shared experiences with visitors
