CNN producer note

sjunat55 got to the U.S.S. New York early to get in. 'They were only letting in a couple of hundred at a time. You could fit in like a movie studio there. It's amazing, so huge, and the line went all the way 10 blocks to 38th or 39th street.'
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer

iReport —

Ryan, Croxton, Ramos, Stout, Schmidt, Smith, Ginn, Moller- captain, chief, PFC, lance corporal.

Names, titles and ranks of some of the service men and women of the USS New York, visiting the city for the first time.

I'm not sure if any of them is from New York or has ever been here before, but this week they were all New Yorkers and we thank them for the time they took to talk to us,  greet us on the streets, share stories from their tours of duty and thrilled us with equipment demonstrations.

And most of all, we thank them for their service.
