Dad and I meet Tim at booksigning
June 16, 2008 | Vetting explained
My father, Richard "Mr. Mom" Frantz, and I met Tim on Memorial Day 2006 in Buffalo, N.Y., at a signing for his book "Wisdom of Our Fathers."
An essay I wrote about my dad, along with our photo, is in the chapter Mr. Mom.
My dad and I wanted to meet and thank Tim for including our story in his book.
When we got to the table where Tim was signing books and as soon as he found out who we were, he jumped up and gave us both big bear hugs. He wanted pictures taken of the three of us then introduced us to his dad, Big Russ. In fact, he told his dad the story of my dad.
When my dad and I decided to go to the book signing, we had no idea what to expect. Here was someone who had interviewed presidents and popes. And we were just everyday people. Yet, he was so kind and down-to-earth. He treated us like we were really special.
Meeting Tim is a memory my dad and I will share and cherish forever.
