Wetherbys fashion store has made a remarkable comeback, I last reported that tenants in SL get a raw deal if sim owners suddenly decide to evict tenants from their land, as they have nothing to protect them from the whims of the virtual land owners who rent to them. (see report at http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-347089).
Wetherbys had been a very popular store and the owner Mrs Wetherby (Alejandra Jumanya/Rosa Wetherby) had a big following with her wonderful clothes, she even gives one dress away each day to group members. She had lost her previous store after a dispute with an ex-boyfriend, who talked the sim owner into handing the land over him, thus he deleted her whole store without Mrs Wetherby’s permission.
Sometimes things happen in life for a reason, as there is something better waiting just around the corner, even in bad times people can make a new and exciting start if they have the right attitude and resources to go on. As luck would have it Mrs Wetherby’s loyal SL Group stood behind her one hundred per cent, offering donations and any help they could put her way to build the store up again. Mrs Wetherby was stunned by the amount of people who were there for her, and I’m pleased to say that she has indeed set up her store again, only this time independently, so there is no risk of her business being destroyed again. She has bought her own sim and the cool thing is she has named it ‘5th Avenue,’ an easy and famous name to remember. The new store is amazing too, a beautifully elegant building, and it wasn’t long before Wetherbys was open for business once more.
Mrs Wetherby told me that Linden Labs had contacted her about SL tenant’s rights with sim owners, but they stipulated that she had hired a service with the sim owner and not them. Therefore she would have to take it up with the person who owned the sim to recoup any rental money that she had paid in advance when the store was deleted. So it seems that people who rent land on someone else’s sim will always be at risk from eviction even if they have paid in advance.
It’s a brilliant new beginning for a thriving business and with a sim named 5th Avenue, people will have no trouble finding Wetherbys. Sometimes it’s worth losing some money to break free and start something bigger and better and put the past behind you!
