Yes, I'm one of those "twilight people." I've become increasingly aware of how that makes me look and I simply don't care. I fell in love with a love story and I've made hundreds of online friends that share my love for this new classic.

Many people might read that introduction, roll their eyes, and just keeping on moving. I wouldn't blame them. It is kind of funny. However, I've had the chance to get to know several amazing women, and men, through several twilight outlets, and to be honest, I'm simply amazed by the generosity of these people.

On November 15th, 2009, The Fandom Gives Back began an auction to help Alex's Lemonade and raise money to fight childhood cancer. The auction is running right along with the release of "the twilight saga: New Moon."

Several people can laugh at older women that are mooning over a 108 year old vampire and his 17 year old girlfriend, but at the same time, you simply can not help but be touched by the same women who have gone out of their way to make a difference. It's a genius concept and I'm so very proud to be a part of it. As of 9:22 AM, ET on Monday, November 16th, the total donated is $12,637.39. That's also $2,637.39 over the goal of $10,000.

Did I mention the auction only started yesterday, Sunday, November 15th? It is simply amazing. Let me share the mission statement of "The Fandom Gives Back" with you:

"Mission Statement:

Dear friends, fans, and followers,

Did you know that every year over 200,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer? We cannot ignore this shocking statistic impacting the youth of the world, and we certainly hope that you won’t either. We need your help.

Starting Nov. 15th, through Nov. 20th, you will have the opportunity to help in the fight against childhood cancer. We haven't set a monetary goal because we're firm in the belief that no matter what we set, you will surpass it.

Running this virtual stand is the biggest challenge we have ever faced – the challenge of raising awareness of just how serious the epidemic of childhood cancer is.

The money raised will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, a 501(c)3 public charity, to fund childhood cancer research projects. The mission of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily to support research into new cures and treatments; to encourage and educate others, especially children, to raise money for childhood cancer by holding their own lemonade stands; and to expedite the process of finding new cures and treatments, and bringing them to children with cancer now.

Nina, Lola and Christina are making a huge difference, simply by connecting with other twilight fans. It's truly inspirational and I'm blessed to be acquainted with each of them. 

I can not help but be touched and inspired by these three wonderful ladies, who have gone above and beyond, simply by being themselves. The ladies behind this endeavor, would be three moms. Three friends that are spread literally across the country. Three Twilight fans and three aspiring writers that have found a second family thanks to Stephenie Meyer's creation.

I'm also a mother, and my child is the most important part of my life. I could not imagine having to battle a disease so ferocious such as cancer. All I can think about doing right now is help spread the word of this amazing cause, and hope that maybe we can help give cancer a run for it's money.
