UCLA Professors and Students Unite
November 20, 2009 | westwood, California | Vetting explained
I spoke with students and Professors at the UCLA campus today where protest were being held. Steven Williams describe himself as a, "nontraditional student". A bit older than other students Steve began attending UCLA after a difficult time of crime. He wanted to get his life back on track, and now is a photographer and publicist , while still continuing his education. He has great concerns and fears of whether this will be possible, after the 32%increase in tuition passed. His concerns are mirrored by many at UCLA and all other UC campuses. I also spoke with, Professor Paul Von Blum. He gave a speech to the students at the protest today. He encouraged students to get organized and continue the fight, on all campuses of the University of California. He wanted them to get their parents and others involved, to help change this horrible situation. Professor Von Blum, is quite concerned for the minority students that will have difficulty continuing their education He is outraged. His biggest concern is for the young people, who would now not even consider getting a higher education because of their inability to pay tuition.
