The CNN Hero of the Year 2009
November 23, 2009 | United Arab Emirates | Vetting explained
Filipinos are known for their hospitality, of world-class talents and skills, and quite a humble beginning. It is CNN who conferred Efren Penaflorida who grew in the slump areas of Cavite, Philippines. It is the place where another Filipino hero, named Emilio Aguinaldo was raised. Efren gave inspiration to all Cavitenos, to all Filipinos, and then to the world. A role model for each one of us, including other CNN nominees, in this remarkable CNN coverage. Efren can now continue what he started, providing education and human development to the needy. Who cares if you're poor? Don't you have the right to learn? Efren is the answer.
Filipinos are deeply revived after triumphant sucess of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao in achieving outstanding world titles in the WBC. In line with this acheivements, Filipino singer Charice Pempengco, was discovered in the international scene bringing pride to all Filipinos after her singing talent was not given much attention in the Philippine music industry. It was Oprah and Ellen who gave her hope. Thanks to the American people!
