The Health Care System didn't just turn ugly overnight, so what happened? The Insurance Companies have been handling the money transaction between patient and doctor for decades. All we have to do is chip in our $15-40 copay and we're good to go. Most of us have health benefits through an employer, so we don't see the dollars leaving our pockets every month. Do you think your pay scale has been left unaffected by escalations in Health Care costs? Do you think wages remaining flat during all 8 years of Bush had anything to do with insurance premiums doubling in the same time period? The greatest escalation in Insurance Premiums in US History happened during Bush, surprised?

Insurance has insulated us from the true costs of medical treatment for so many years that we don't question the actual expense as long as all we're responsible for is a copay. Would you question the Dr's bill if you were responsible for paying 100%? Do you question it when insurance takes care of it? I believe costs have escalated in part because the consumer is disconnected from the true expense and is easily appeased when only held responsible for the copay. In fact some may even enjoy seeing the insurance company paying out thousands of dollars, so the more the better? Did you ever think about the fact that these private businesses stay in business because they profit by taking in more money than they pay? If we don't question the Dr's bill, then they can charge whatever they want. If the Insurance company just pays whatever price the Dr asks, then they just turn around and pass that cost back to us. When you enjoy watching the insurance company choke on a large bill, they're not the one's choking, WE ARE!

Insurance is simply Privatized Socialism. If we were all true Capitalists, then we'd be paying our own way. Now we all chip in premiums, which might as well be taxes. These premiums pay for other people and not just ME ME ME. The only thing that makes it all OK is that a small handful of people are making millions by simply being middle men. Now I understand why a self-sufficient, not-for-profit medical assistance organization is so horrible. There aren't any suits sitting in a board room filling their pockets with OUR money. How could we unnecessarily pay in more of our hard earned money for no reason if there are no profits involved? We wouldn't want to save any of OUR money now would we? Call the Public Option Socialism all day long, but so is the current system with the exception of We The People funding the lifestyles of the Rich and Infamous to boot.
