CNN producer note
Pixel told me, 'Hollywood Blvd. was as colorful as I have ever seen it! It was really cool to see The balloons in the parade, this was the first year to have balloons. The bands and floats were all so festive, everyone was having a good time I think, in need of Christmas cheer!'

The Hollywood Christmas Parade was held November 29th. Hollywood was in it's glory;. celebrities, floats, bands, and our first Balloons, 8 total! The Grand Marshal was Susan Lucci and the Hosts were Laura McKenzie and Erik Estrada. People lined the streets and filled the bleachers, cheering and singing as the parade passed by. The Hollywood Parade dates back 80+ years. It is the world's largest parade of Hollywood stars, naturally. The history is really quite interesting. My dad told me, we went to watch it every year when we were little. He said, "it used to be called the Santa Claus Parade", he was right. It was originally called, The Santa Claus Lane Parade, as his arrival marked the Christmas season, Children would chant, "Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus"..... This inspired Grand Marshal Gene Autry, to co- write the classic song "Here comes Santa Claus".. right down Santa Claus Lane. At some point it was renamed the Hollywood Christmas Parade. This became a controversial matter, and once again was renamed, this time to The Hollywood Holiday Parade. This year, many celebrated the triumph of putting the "Christ" back into the Hollywood Christmas Parade as it is actually a Christmas tradition for the people in Los Angeles. Many known celebrities have participated in the parade throughout the 8o years.Too many to begin mentioning. it is a Parade that will continue to bring joy to many people's lives, old and young! The cheering and joy that I saw was wonderful! Clearly difficult times for many.Families are struggling to put food on the table, let alone Christmas Magic into their families lives. The magic was evident this evening, Christmas memories were made for children, like myself, that will be life long...
I hope you enjoy my "Mini"version of the parade. I attempted to keep it short, but found that difficult as the parade was 2 hours long. Please excuse the length of this video! The parade will be aired, nationwide on Dec the 10th and then again on Dec.the 24th for those interested in seeing the full blown version.
