CNN producer note

iReport —

Trenton, NJ - Today, December 3, the organization Garden State Equality organized a lobby day at the state house in New Jersey's capital Trenton. Supporters of gay marriage are pushing New Jersey lawmakers to pass gay marriage while Jon Corzine is still governor. Incumbent Chris Christie has promised to veto any gay marriage legislation that comes his way.

In Trenton today, 650 supporters showed up in force. They spent the day filling up meetings at the state house and held a rally directly in front around 11am. They also held a press conference.

Although an opposition group did have a permit to counter-protest, they had a very small showing.

Garden State Equality will be having two more lobby days. The next one is on this coming Monday, December 7 at 9am. They are hoping as many as possible will turn out, as lawmakers have said they want to see a huge showing of support for gay marriage, before they will vote on it.
