iReport —

(RALEIGH, NC)  Dec. 11, 2009 - Although they are leading American Muslim organizations and community leaders are planning to launch services and  summits where young Muslims can ask scholars questions as part of the effort to combat extremism, American Muslim leaders and parents must finally  decide to enforce and advocate a system of rules and ideas defined by reputable scholars that do not violate American jurisprudence, humanitarian justice, and advance terrorism.

(CAIR) The Council on American-Islamic Relations is correct when it insist that Muslims refute and counter the misuse of certain verses of the Qur'an that are commonly misused by recruiters of violence, but first the recruiters of violence must be denounced! If not, all the outreach in the world will mean very  little because Muslim youth and young adults will use the opinions of so-called “thinkers” like Anwar Awlaki and Osama Bin Laden to justify violence and embark on  a path that will lead to their own self-destruction and the destruction of innocent people. It is time to define these people as they are, which are parasites and do they represent true Islamic theology or valid schools of thought.

I am sure that there are Muslims once considered scholarly in their teaching, however events may have occurred in some of their lives that created inner hostilities and now a generation of Muslims are feeding off the abuses they suffered. It is our misfortune to have Osama Bin Laden, who has never been scholarly, and is basically a  nutcase, who has nothing to offer Muslims anything in the religious, social or political realm. He is a sociopath, that we let filter in his useless messages that did nothing but cause harm, suspicion and advocate destructions.

Yesterday it was five young American Muslims in Pakistan who were detained and  investigated for possible extremist ties, but tomorrow, next month, or next year- there will be more unless we do something collectively. It is not just a question of controlling the websites that are online resource center for terrorism, but we must defuse and eliminate is the idiotic voices that advance evil actions.

Five Muslim students, near Washington, disappeared in late November from  and their families spoke with mosque leaders, which in turn, informed the FBI. One  of these young men left a farewell video which contained common grievances in the Muslim world. There is long road between discontentment and destruction and Muslims must be observant, identify and deal with    the problems that lie in between. Once a decision is made to travel down a faulty path, a young person does not get to return without some penalty, punishment and possibly death. There is a large percentage of Muslim youth struggling with the dynamics of being Muslim American in a world that is not consistent or sincere enough to address and legitimately solve the social issues that perplex young minds. Still, that is no excuse to allow for brainwashing.  Parents must pay attention. The worries of other American people are becoming more legitimate as the cases appear throughout American cities.

Muslim American Society (MAS) Freedom is organizing a summit where young Muslims can ask mainstream scholars questions at this year's conference in Chicago. The 8th Annual MAS-ICNA Conference will be held in Chicago from December 23- 27. One has to recognize that there are real issues here and abroad. We need address how we will inspire the younger generation to constructively deal with issues in a nonviolent way.

More imams and trained scholars must take steps to respond to incorrect ideas and denounce all the wrong ones. It is long overdue and the majority has been  too silent.

If our sons and daughters get lost in misinformation on the internet, they could eventually lose their lives.  The mind of Nidal Hasan, a trained

a Muslim army psychiatrist,  accused of killing 13 fellow  soldiers in a shooting spree at Fort Hood military base, was  said to be influenced by dangerous online communications. If this man could be brought to destruction, then we must think seriously about the more immature and less experienced.

What Nidal Hassan did was sick and cowardly and this kind of history must not repeat itself. American Muslims must do their share to insure that it does not.
