"Courage" Enjoying Life at Disneyland
December 21, 2009 | Anaheim, California | Vetting explained
My family visited Disneyland on Sunday, when I remembered about President Barack Obama's pardoned turkey, named "Courage" from Goldsburg, North Carolina. So, I asked around to find where he was located and found him just across from Thunder Mountain, a railroad rollacoaster. I talked with a hostess and she confirmed that was indeed "Courage" and "Carolina" is a friend of his from the farm that came along for the ride.
I guess they didn't want to part the happy couple. "Carolina" was not in the enclosure at the time.
"Courage" loves the crowd. I guess with all that national media attention he became a "ham" for the camera. He was very inquisitive and interactive. He was not timid what so ever.
My 6-year old son can be heard in the video making his off the cuff remarks about what he thinks about "Courage" and turkeys in general.
I love holiday traditions, even if they might seem silly, like the President of the United States pardoning the turkey. It's all in good fun!
