Mermaid Parade was awesome this year and showcased some true
creativity and fun out on the boarwalk. Costumes ranged from all
over the place and generally I would say it was good to get out in
the sun, get out the beach and watch the imagination at work.
Themed groups line up and parade down the boardwalk and into the
street for this NYC summertime event.
Space was definitely crowded but nothing unbearable. I would
recommend bringing the sunscreen, some beer and hot dog money and
be prepared to have some fun. A Nathans hot dog (from the July 4th
hot dog eating contest) is almost three bucks but if you check out
the picture in the slideshow you won't be disappointed. I can't
remember how much beers are as we brown bagged it to save a buck. I
didn't stick around long enough to see who won the judging but I
will say I saw my fair share of bare chested and body painted
mermaid beauties, creative costumes and general good times. Go get
your mermaid on.
