Wasington DC has the highest murder rate in the world. I remember when we invaded Iraq there was one week that DC had more gun shot fatalities than Iraq. I'm sure now there will be more hand guns avaible to be stolen or sold for profit to criminals. Time magazine documented the gun shot fatalities in the United States in one week. I think there were 400. It was a long time ago and I don't remember the exact figures but it went something like this:
Suicides 70%
Shot in the heat of the moment by someone close to the victim, friend or family 25%
Accidental discharge 5%
Not one death occured that week during a crime event. Not one death that week in an act of self defense.
Why does someone need a hand gun, that can only hit something from 10 feet or less? For the most part you have to trust someone to get that close. Why does someone need an assault rifle, designed for the sole purpose of killing many people at close range, rapidly? I just don't understand.
Maybe the reason we can't get reasonable gun control in this country is because we export more weapons than the next 2 largest exporters of guns. Well I guess now it's time for people to start calling me names because I have a different point of view.
