The problem today with law enforcement officers is that they believe they are the LAW. Whatever they choose to do is just, and who are we to question their authority. I say we are the people who put bread and butter on their tables, with our tax dollars, so why are they working against us. I was pulled over on my way to McDonalds for having improper tags, but the kicker was my car and tags was registered to me so I knew he was profiling from the time he got behind me. Officer Joseph Paul had no time to run my license plate, before he hit his lights for me to pull over but he SUSPECTED me to be guilty of a crime other than being a black female with a white guy in the car (my daughters father). I held my license out the window as he approached and told him that he needed to bring me a business card because I was going to file a complaint. He then told me I needed to go to the Secretary of State to get the tags registered right, I told him they were already then he ran my tags while standing at my window, surprise, now they belong to my car. He backed away from the car stating parking in handicap was illegal, because that's where I had to pull over to to not block McDonalds drive. I was not ticketed. I wanted to file a written complaint, and they wanted me to make a statement. I did not want my words twisted so I requested the proper form to file my complaint. The officer who came out did not seem happy about it but he complied. While filling out my report the officer swarmed me(GEIK) like a shark waiting for his prey. He kept looking over my shoulders and making comments to distract me. At one point he asked me to remove my glasses and I said for what, I wasnt required to do nothing I didnt want to do. After completion of the complaint he wanted it. I didnt understand why they would send out a regular Officer for my complaint, until he offered both of his business cards, and made a comment his hobbies are on the back.. I read the back of his card in the car, and at that time I knew it was supose to be a threat. He wanted me to see that he was a SNIPER.

I have had more contact with the Kalamazoo Public Safety department than neccessary, so when I do come in contact with any Officer, I request a business card so I can write the time of contact and the reason given to me for the contact, patrol car number, and date on the back of the card. I have yet to be ticketed, summoned to court but I continue to be profiled, pulled over, made to exit my car and illegally searched. My rights are being violated at my own expense, because I pay taxes, and this is not how I or the American people intended their hard earned dollars to be spent. I wrote the Mayor Hannah McKinney at the time, and never received acknowledgement. I then went on to write different branches of government with no direct impact on this disturbing situation. We have cameras on every stop light running through the entire city, with GPS tracking units on all patrol cars, directed to their downtown situation room located in the Crosstown Parkway Department. With all this technology they should be able to solve crimes not create them.
