Almost two months ago a resident wrote "F*CK NIGGERS" with a blunt object at the top of one of the two elevators in my building. Since that time they have repainted the walls inside of the building, which had nothing
like this written on them, washed windows, and made several
other non-imperative repairs. For some reason through all of this they decided to leave this vile statement up in the elevator for 2 months.Lastly, no one has issued any type of apology or statement of outrage at what was written. The only thing that has been said is the statement in the
elevator was left up because there is only one elevator company that
repairs lacquered brass in Michigan. After doing some checking I found
that there are over 30 elevator companies, and 5 brass companies that
repair and restore lacquered brass. Therefore showing that the
statement that was left in the elevator for two months was a voluntary
choice.

I
find it both extremely upsetting and sad that in 2008 there are still
people who view individuals of different backgrounds and ethnicities as
being inferior.
