+ BREAKING NEWS-Tropical Storm Bertha, the 2nd named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, has formed just off the coast of Africa and the Cape Verde Islands. At this time, Bertha is in favorable conditions to slowly intensify because of the low-wind shear factor and warmer waters. However, Bertha is expected to pass over cooler waters in a few days which could weaken the storm, but then re-energize possibly up to hurricane strength thereafafter after 72 hours. The only factor is that later on in the forecast period, Bertha is expected to come under wind shear, which could also weaken the storm. The direction of Bertha is to the west-northwest, and winds are at 40 mph. While Bertha is currently under a high pressure, in a few days, there is expected to be a weakness in the ridge and turn Bertha more towards the northwest. This is what most of the models are suggesting at this time. Stay tuned as we get more updates and you can also get updates Here. +

UPDATE: Bertha has now reached 120 mph in strength, and the forecast path still has it heading towards Bermuda but has slightly shifted to the west. Stay tuned!
