I was at Chicago's "Bozo Circus"! My dream was to play "Bozo Buckets"...
July 4, 2008 | Chicago, Illinois | Vetting explained
Bozo represents everything simple, sweet, and classic about growing up in Chicago in the 1960's and 1970's. After spending 5 years on a waiting list for tickets to the Bozo Show, my family finally received tickets in the mail one day. My sister, brothers and I were jumping up and down and screaming with excitement about the news. We set up "Bozo Buckets" in the backyard and practiced everyday for weeks before going to the show, just in case we got picked to win a prizes for throwing a ping pong type ball into each of 6 buckets, one at a time. My mom made us get all "dressed up" for the big day. Being "on TV" and so close to Bozo was one of the most memorable days of my life. Although none of us were picked for the buckets, we did get a "high five" from Bozo and autographed souvenirs. For years afterward we played "Bozo Buckets" at all of our birthday parties and sometimes just for fun. Of course every Sunday morning Bozo Circus was on TV in our house. Thanks for the great times, Bozo!
